The photo

Getting the one photo that matters

The portrait can only be as good as the photo. These four things make the difference.

Overcast light is best; snow and bright sun blow out the white parts of the coat.
Straight on and slightly below eye level shows the mask symmetrically.
Get the eyes lit and sharp; blue eyes disappear in shadow.
Ears up and mouth closed if you can wait for it. The husky grin is fun but hides the eyes.
